![]() And we're back! Prior to the break, the science 30s had a busy week, including their first lab report, a project and a quiz. All in all I was a bit disappointed with the results of all 3 of the assessments, but hopefully this will be the "kick in the bum" the kids need to start putting in a little bit more effort... before the nice weather starts melting their brains with thoughts of grad ;) If you head over to PowerSchool and take a look at your son or daughter's mark, you may see a relatively low score. This could be due to a few things: First, they may be missing a lab or project (having not handed it in before the break). I am currently missing 6 lab reports and 7 heart health flyers (not a good start!). Second, they may not have done so well on the quiz. Luckily, the quizzes are rewritable. All the students have to do is complete corrections and all of their homework in their booklets, proving to me that they have put in the effort required to rewrite and are prepared. From there, students can book a time during FLT or lunch (or during their spare) to come in and rewrite the quiz (and no it will not be the same quiz!) Third, they may not have done well on their first lab report. This is ok, because once they get the lab back, they will see a variety of comments, showing them where to go from here, and how to improve their mark! If they are unclear about how to improve, students are welcome to ask questions to help them learn! So, all in all, I'm hoping to get overloaded with these assignments students chose not to hand in on Tuesday, so that all of those marks can go up to where they should be! Now, what's going on this week?! This week in Chem 30 Monday: still off... kids never seem to be at school anymore ;) Tuesday: intro to genetics Wednesday: mitosis and meiosis Thursday: early inheritance Friday: DNA / quick lab Upcoming Due Dates Friday February 27 - Genetics Lab due Tuesday March 3 - DNA Quick Lab due Friday March 6 - Tech Inquiry due Friday March 6 - Unit A Test REMINDER: PLEASE SIGN UP FOR PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11 FROM 5PM-8PM!
