Last week, the students had their first quiz in science 30, and for some it was easy peasy, for others it was quite a shock! The students also had their first lab due in science, however they had the option of not having it marked and to simply receive feedback, in order to know how to write a better lab. This worked out quite well for students, although it is a lot of work for me; mainly because I have a broken wrist and scaphoid on my right hand so I can't write and I type pretty oddly! I'm happy to do this for kids, to alleviate the anxiety about labs, as I have heard from a few students that my reputation of being a "hard marker" precedes me. I have completed all of the comments for students who have never had me as a teacher before, so if this is your child's first Ms. Mogck's class, they have been emailed their comments on their labs!
This week in sci 30 we will finish the first half of the Biology Unit, and start into genetics! The kids will have their weekly quiz on Wednesday, as Thursday I am away for an appointment, so they will be watching a movie that day! Reminder, the Terry Fox run is this Friday, and if you have pledged to donate, you can use the link http://www.terryfox.ca/ChestermereHigh to donate today! This week in Science 30 Monday: Disorders and Treatments Tuesday: Intro to Genetics Wednesday: Quiz 2 (immune system) / Mitosis Meiosis Thursday: Watch Osmosis Jones (with worksheet) Friday: Finish Osmosis Jones (Terry Fox Run timing permitting) Upcoming Due Dates: Wed Sept 21: Heart Heath Flyer due
