![]() Last week we all struggled through the (sort of awful) circuit lab.... but hey! It DID help the students learn about circuit, voltage and resistance! It just really wasn't working all that well! This week the science 30s will learn about power and transmitting energy, as well as global trends in energy. After that, we move on to Electromagnetic Radiation, which is a lot less mathematical, and a lot more exciting! This Week in Science 30 Monday: Topic 6 Power Tuesday: Topic 7 Transmitting Energy Wednesday: Global Energy Jigsaw Thursday: Quiz Topic 1-5 Friday: Topic 8 EMR Inquiry Upcoming Due Dates Thurs Dec 1: Quiz Topic 1-5 Fri Dec 2: Motor Project due

![]() We will start this week with the big Science 30 midterm exam (on Tuesday!) From there, the science 30s will return to Science 30 Unit C Physics, and work on the Motor Project, in which students are asked to build a simple electric motor and generator (or at least try!) From there, we will dive into circuitry! Less calculations, more theory... until we learn about voltage and resistance. Should be an interesting and varying week! This Thursday, the science 30s are able to rewrite their Unit B Chemistry Exam, if they have no late assignments. In order to do so, they must complete all workbook questions, and test corrections by Thursday FLT. This week in Science 30 Monday: Work / Study Period Tuesday: SCI 30 MIDTERM Wednesday: Circuit Inquiry Lab Thursday: Topic 4 Voltage Friday: Topic 5 Resistance Upcoming Due Dates: Tues Nov 22: SCIENCE 30 MIDTERM Thurs Nov 24 (after school): Unit B Rewrite Exam This week, the Science 30s dive into PHYSICS! Many students have major anxiety about this unit, as many of them have not learned any sort of physics since grade 10. It's ok. It's easy. But if a student tells themselves its going to be the worst unit, then there is no way to combat it in their mind: it will be the worst unit. All I ask is that they give it a try! It's actually super interesting, and applicable! Especially to those students whom might be entering the electrician field!
This week in Sci 30 Tuesday: Topic 1 Gravitational Fields Wednesday: Topic 1 Electrical Fields Thursday: Mars Case Study Friday: Motor / Generator Project Upcoming Due Dates in Sci 30 Fri Nov 18: Mars Case Study Due Thurs Nov 24: Circuit Lab due Thurs Nov 24: REWRITE Unit B Test (3:45pm) ![]() I have noticed a lot of the science 30s are seeming a little bit more stressed this week. I feel that it may because many of them don't do much during their provided work time in class, leaving them with a lot of work to do at home. I would like to remind them that Science 30 is an academic class, and thus it will entail a lot of work to be done! It's not a cake walk over here! This week, the science 30s have TONS of work to get done. First of all, they should be finished their Ester Quick Lab and working fervently on their Public Awareness Project. This will be assessed IN CLASS on Wednesday. If a student does not hand in their project at that time, it will be impossible to pass, as the in class quiz based on that project is worth half of their mark! After that - it's the Unit B Exam. This covers acid base chemistry as well as organic chemistry! I'm so sad the chem unit is over - already! This week in Science 30 Monday: Work Period (Lab / Project) Tuesday: Work Period (Project) Wednesday: Project Assessments Thursday: Unit B Test Upcoming Due Dates Tues Nov 8: Ester Lab due Wed Nov 9: Public Aware Project due Thurs Nov 10: Unit B Test / Ochem Chart due Fri Nov 18: MIDTERM EXAM |
