![]() Last week, we began Unit C: Physics in science 30, and then we had the midterm. Overall, the science 30s either did REALLY WELL, or REALLY BAD. There was essentially no in between... Hopefully the kids will pull out all stops for the rest of the year... and get things done. A reminder to all, in order to attend grad, students must be passing all of their classes by May 11, 2015! Yikes! This week we will be getting into circuits and power, which is very applicable to those students who are interested in getting into electrician work! This week in Science 30 Monday: Current, Generators and Circuits Tuesday: Motor Project Wednesday: Electric Circuit Inquiry Thursday: Electric Circuits Friday: Power Upcoming Due Dates: Friday May 1: Circuit Inquiry Quick Lab due Tuesday May 5: Physics Quiz 1 Wednesday May 6: Motor Project Due

Last week the science 30s wrote a disappointing chemistry unit test. I am currently at a loss as to how to help the science 30s be successful. I try to make the course interesting with projects and labs, and they don't hand things in. I go back to the basics and make it really boring... they don't do anything. I am at the point where I will show up and try to make the class as engaging as possible, while still providing the required learning so that they are able to pass the diploma. Hopefully they will realize it is worth trying in science 30!
This week, we are starting the physics section of science 30. This begins with Gravitational, Electric and Magnetic Fields. After finishing up these topics, the science 30s will be given an in class assignment and then they will be allowed time to study for their midterm. Hopefully they have been preparing for this test ahead of time, as it is worth 15% of their overall class mark. This week in Science 30 Monday: Voltage and Magnetic Field Tuesday: Gravitational and Electric Field Strength Wednesday: In Class Assignment Thursday: Study Period Friday: MIDTERM EXAM Upcoming Due Dates in Science 30 Wednesday April 22: In Class Assignment Friday April 24: MIDTERM EXAM ![]() I hope all of the science 30s had a wonderful spring break and are so excited and motivated to get back into science! I also hope many of them took this time off to catch up with all their missing assignments and we will have all 16 of them passing!!!! We will call it a Spring Break Miracle! :) This week in science 30, we will be finishing up the chemistry portion of science 30, in preparation for the unit test on Thursday. After that, we will be heading straight into physics, which is the most diverse unit and to be quite honest doesn't have the best "flow" of all the units... The physics unit introduces energy, magnetism, circuits, astronomy, light and nuclear energy. Yes... all of that.... but it's interesting and fun, so we will finish up chemistry and move on. A reminder that the science 30 midterm is FRIDAY, April 24. It will not be easy, so hopefully the science 30s will begin studying sooner rather than later. Even 20 minutes a night would be great! This week in Science 30: Monday: Science Inquiry Assignment Tuesday: Review of Unit Wednesday: Review of Unit Thursday: Unit B Exam Friday: Intro to Physics Upcoming Due Dates: Wednesday April 15: Science Inquiry Due Thursday April 16: Unit B EXAM FRIDAY APRIL 24: MIDTERM EXAM |
