Hopefully everyone had a happy, healthy and restful winter break, and you are ready for a productive January!! (Let's be honest NO ONE is ready to go back to school tomorrow!) Since we are done the curricular requirements and are simply winding down and finishing projects and assignments prior to the final exam, this week will be full of work / study periods for the Chem 30s.
Students and parents may be wondering about the Government Field Test. This test is provided by Alberta Education not to test the students, but to assess the appropriateness of potential questions for future diploma exams. This exam is not worth any marks in class, however it will help students assess themselves on potential things they need to review for the final the following week.
A reminder about the in class final: This test is worth only 5% of the students' overall marks, however, if the grade is an improvement on their midterm mark, the midterm will be replaces, and thus the final CAN be worth 20% of the overall chem 30 grade. This is a HUGE opportunity for students to do better, so I would encourage students to work hard and study for this final assessment!
