![]() It's that time of year! The snow is out, the roads are terrible, and we all worry about the kids' driving! Yayyyyy.... As well, the holidays, although a joyful time for most, can be a difficult time for some families, which puts added pressure on the kids. I have scheduled my classes to alleviate the stress that will likely build in other classes, as we are entering the most applicable, interesting unit in chem 30 (which has zero calculations!) ORGANIC CHEMISTRY! Last week, the chem 30s completed the last bit of learning in Unit C: Acid Base Equilibrium, however due to a shortened class and a lot of labs, they had 3 work periods. Did they actually do WORK during these work periods??? We will find out by Friday... when all the labs are due and their Unit Test has been marked! This will be one of the most stressful weeks in chemistry 30, as the students have 2 labs due, and one has an official due date (no lates will be accepted, no exceptions!) On top of that, the students will write the most difficult of the unit tests in chemistry on Wednesday. Please do not allow your children to complain about the amount of work they have due this week. In total, the kids have had 5 work periods to work on their labs and study, as well as 5 FLEX times (since the labs were assigned). There was literally no additional homework assigned during this time, other than studying for the exam (practice test, completing practice questions that weren't finished prior, that sort of thing). That means that in the past week, the chem 30s have been provided with 600 minutes of CLASS TIME to work on these labs. If they are complaining, or stressing out, PLEASE remind them of this! :) This Week in Chem 30 Tuesday: Work Period / Review Period Wednesday: Unit D Acid Base Test Thursday: Intro to Organic Chem and Industrial Processes Friday: OChem Project Introduction Upcoming Due Dates Tuesday December 2: Buffer Lab Due Wednesday December 3: Acid Base Unit Test Thursday December 4: Titration Lab Due (NO EXTENSION) Friday December 5: ALL LATE LABS DUE Monday December 8: Organic Chemistry Intro Chart Due
