![]() Last week in chem 30, we finished up learning how to name the different types of organic compounds. Now we are going to get into uses of these organic compounds. It's the actual application of what the kids have learned, and it's very relevant to the oil and gas industry! Yay! We should be finished Unit C Organic Chem by early May, giving us plenty of time to finish up the most difficult Unit: Acid Base Equilibrium.... This Week in Chem 30 Monday: Topic 8 Organic Reactions Tuesday: Work Period Wednesday: Topic 9 Polymerization Thursday: Industrial OChem Project Friday: Industrial OChem Project Upcoming Due Dates in Chem 30 Tues May 3: Unit C OChem test Fri May 6: OChem Project due

I hope everyone had a fantastic and restful week off, and everyone is now ready to ROCK the last term of the year! (Terrifying because the grade 12s graduate in less than 1/2 a semester now!)
This week in Chem 30 we are getting right into Aromatic Organic Compounds on Monday, and following it with a summary of all other functional groups on Tuesday. After that, it's a quick ester lab and a quiz to finish up the week. Should be fun! I also want to make sure that the chem 30s are now aware that I do have a prep block, as I have finished my Forensics 25 course for the year. That means 3rd block Monday/Wednesday/Friday and 4th block Tuesday/Thursday I am available for questions and clarification for the chem 30s! Yay!!! This week in Chem 30 Monday: Topic 6 Aromatics Tuesday: Topic 7 Functional Groups Wednesday: Ester Quick Lab Thursday: Work Period Friday: Quiz 1 (Topic 1-7) Upcoming Due Dates Fri April 22: Unit C Quiz 1 (Topic 1-7) Mon April 25: Ester Quick Lab due Due to the underlying misunderstandings of the material, I have moved the chem 30 midterm to Thursday, April 7. This will allow the kids that were on the field trip today and opportunity to clear up anything they have questions about. That won't stop us from learning organic chemistry prior to break though!
This week in Chem 30 Monday: Topic 1/2 Organic Chem in Industry Tuesday: Topic 3 Alkanes Wednesday: Topic 4/5 Cyclos and Isomers Thursday: MIDTERM EXAM Friday: Topic 6 Alkenes and Alkynes Upcoming Due Dates Thursday April 7: MIDTERM Exam |
