This week in chem 30, we have a full week of learning! As mentioned before, Acid Base Equilibrium is one of the most important and difficult units in chem 30. This week, the students will be taught 3 parts of the unit, and be performing their first of 3 labs. It's a big week.
Last week's midterm marks were very impressive! I was very happy to see the kids had prepared appropriately for the midterm exam! This gives me hope for the diploma! Great work kids! This week in chem 30 Monday: Le Chatelier's Principle Tuesday: Bronsted Lowry Acid Base Wednesday: Bronsted Lowry Acid Base Lab Thursday: Electrochem Rewrite In Class Friday: Work Period Upcoming Due Dates Thursday April 23: Electrochem Rewrite Exam Wednesday April 29: Bronsted Lowry Lab due Wednesday April 29: Acid Base Quiz ![]() I hope everyone is relaxed, refreshed and ready to get back into the swing of school... because this is the last term of the semester. The last 40 days of high school classes for the grade 12s. This, essentially, is crunch time! This week is midterm week for the chemistry 30s. They have known about this midterm since February, and I had sent a message to all staff to let them know that kids often stress about the chem 30 midterm, to try to alleviate some of the stress. At the same time, I have heard many students mention that this is going to be a rough week for them. Thank goodness in chemistry 30, the midterm is only worth 15% of their class mark (that is only 7.5% of their overall grade) and the midterm mark can be replaced by the final mark (if the final exam mark is an improvement). At the same time, students should have been studying and preparing for the midterm, as I'm sure you have all heard, chemistry is not the easiest subject! After the midterm we will be diving straight into Acid Base Equilibrium, which historically is one of the harder units and worth more on the diploma than any other unit in chem 30. Needless to say, we are definitely getting in deep here. This week in Chem 30: Monday: Review of Unit A and Unit B Tuesday: Study Time Wednesday: MIDTERM EXAM Thursday: Chemical Equilibrium (Topic 1) Friday: Le Chatelier's Principle (Topic 2) Upcoming Due Dates: WEDNESDAY APRIL 15: MIDTERM EXAM |
