![]() This week in chem 20 we are going to begin with a very smelly but very interesting lab! It demonstrates the indicator ability of red cabbage juice - basically we are making cabbage soup and testing to see what color it changes! After that we will dive into what an acid and base really is, and get into how scientists measure the strength of acids and bases. Last week the chem 20s completed the midterm, and did quite well overall. Many students improved their class mark but more than 10%! Friday, the students were given an in class assignment that they were to perform with a partner. Due to shortened class length we will be finishing this assignment on Monday, but I found the kids really enjoyed this type of assessment (many kids came up to me and said they liked it!) This week in Chem 20 Monday: Topic 6 Arrhenius Acid Base Tuesday: Cabbage Lab Wednesday: Topic 7 pH of acids Thursday: Topic 8 Measuring pH Friday: Acid Base Quiz 1 Upcoming Due Dates Wednesday April 29: SQA Lab due Friday May 1: Quiz 1 (topic 1-8) Tuesday May 5: Unit C Test
