The chemistry 20 final examination has been moved from Friday June 19, to Thursday June 25 to allow students to attend Jaydon Sommerfeld's Memorial. This shift in exam scheduling will allow students to better prepare for the final exam. I will be holding tutorials for chem 20 next week at 2pm every day. These sessions will be informal, I will do a quick review blurb on important parts of the diploma and then allow students to work and ask questions.
Tuesday @2pm: Unit A Bonding and Unit B Gases Wednesday @2pm: Unit C Solutions and Unit D Stoich Again, the chem 20 exam will now be held Thursday June 25! Good Luck Studying!

![]() As we all have been aware of the tragedy of Jaydon Sommerfeld's passing, it is understandable that the school has taken measures to reduce the stress on students during this difficult time. As such we will be recommending that all students attempt to write exams but that all school based final exams will be write without risk, meaning that the students' marks will be calculated using the highest mark of either their final exam mark or letting their school based mark stand as their final grade. We are currently working with Alberta Education about requesting exemptions for diploma exams and we will be communicating that as soon as we have an answer. Many students have asked me about the rewrite exams for chemistry 20. The modified schedule is such: Friday @11:30am: SOLUTIONS REWRITE EXAM (only 3 students) Monday @12pm: STOICHIOMETRY REWRITE EXAM CHEMISTRY 20 FINAL EXAM: Friday June 19 Last week, the chem 20s were somewhat crushed by the stoichiometry quiz. So this week we will be reviewing stoichiometry, and then we will get into the rewrites of the last (and most important) units in chem 20. The students who have decided to do the optional science fair project will be given a chance to work on that, and ask any questions they may have. The students who unfortunately did not choose to do the science fair will have time to study and work on their review of the year. Wednesday and Thursday's designated rewrite days are not necessarily a mandatory test day. In order to rewrite, students will be required to complete exam corrections and demonstrate understanding of the concepts (their unit booklets should be completely finished).
This Thursday is the final class in chem 20, with 3 flex days to follow. Students will be given the opportunity to work in small groups if they choose to come in on more difficult questions (more exam like) during this time! I hope all students will take these opportunities. This week in Chem 20 Monday: Review of Stoichiometry Tuesday: Review of Acid Base Wednesday: Acid Base Unit Test REWRITE Thursday: Stoich Unit Test REWRITE Friday: FLT Upcoming due dates: Monday June 8: Titration Final Lab Due Wednesday June 10: Acid Base Rewrite Thursday June 11: Stoich Rewrite Chemistry 20 Final Exam: Friday June 19, 2015 @ 8:30am |
